Description

WHAT POSTINOR-2 IS USED FOR:

Postinor-2 is an emergency contraceptive pill that contains 0.75mg of levonorgestrel, a synthetic hormone similar to the natural hormone progesterone. It is designed to help prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or contraceptive failure (e.g. broken condom or missed pill).

Each pack contains two tablets. The first tablet should be taken as soon as possible, ideally within 12 hours, and no later than 72 hours (3 days) after the incident. The second tablet should be taken 12 hours after the first dose. The sooner it is taken, the more effective it is.

HOW IT WORKS

Postinor-2 works primarily by:

• Delaying ovulation, preventing the release of an egg
• Possibly affecting fertilization or implantation, but it does not terminate an existing pregnancy
   

It is not effective if ovulation has already occurred and should not be used as a regular method of contraception. It also does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

HOW TO TAKE IT

• For oral use only
• Swallow whole with water
• Do not chew, cut, or crush
• Only one full treatment (2 tablets) should be used per menstrual cycle
