ella® is a single-tablet emergency contraceptive pill designed to reduce the chance of pregnancy after unprotected intercourse or contraceptive failure (e.g., broken condom, missed pills). Its active ingredient, ulipristal acetate 30 mg, works by delaying or preventing ovulation, giving you a wider protection window compared to levonorgestrel pills. It helps prevent pregnancy by delaying ovulation, preventing the release of an egg and reducing the chance that sperm and egg meet. It is not an abortion pill and will not affect an existing pregnancy.

ella can be taken within 120 hours (5 days) after unprotected sex, but sooner is always more effective. It does not protect against sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and is not intended for routine contraceptive use.

How to Consume

1. Take one tablet as soon as possible after unprotected intercourse.

2. The sooner it is taken, the more effective it is.

3. Do not take more than one tablet at a time unless instructed by a healthcare professional.

4. If vomiting occurs within 3 hours, speak to a doctor or pharmacist, a repeat dose may be required.
